Minnehaha Creek Watershed District is a local government unit created under the Minnesota Watershed District Act that aims to protect, manage and improve the water resources of Minnesota, Minneapolis and its western suburbs. Burnsville's Maintenance Facility houses the city's Public Works Department, which is responsible for all of the city's water systems, sanitary sewer systems, storm water systems and city roadways, as well as snow removal, pavement repairs, striping, signs and traffic signals. The department also maintains all city-owned equipment. Also located within the Burnsville Maintenance Facility are the Natural Resources Department and Dakota Valley Recycling offices.
