Its records include colonial and state executive, legislative and judicial, county probate, land and court, church and business, It also maintains records of publications and the reports of state, county and municipal governments; and the special collections of private papers, maps, photographs and newspapers. The agency maintains a search room that provides assistance to researchers and the general public. Located in Annapolis, Md., the Maryland State Archives conducts exhibitions for the Maryland State House.
