Block Steel, located in Skokie, Ill., is one of the largest aluminized steel distributors in the United States. The company stocks aluminized stainless, hot dipped galvanized, cold rolled, HRP and distribute tubing. Its inventory averages more than 25,000 tons, which helps expedite orders. The company operates a 165,000 square foot service center with a 72 slitter and 60 multi-cut blanking line. Block Steels roots began in the 1920s when Albert Block started one of Chicagos first steel warehouses. In 1948, with the assistance of his son Harvey and son-in-law Oscar Wolfson, he founded Block Steel in Forest Park, Ill. Its Samson Roll Formed Products division is one of the oldest and largest custom roll formers in the United States.
