Established in 1901, California Drop Forge is a leading producer of closed die forgings for aircraft structural and landing gear components, jet engines and land-based turbines. The company services the aerospace, commercial and medical industries. Alloys forged include titanium, nickel base, stainless steels, aluminum and alloy steels. Located just north of downtown Los Angeles, it occupies nearly 72,000 square feet of manufacturing space complete with a die shop, layout inspection and machining capabilities. CDF operates more than five steam hammers ranging from 2,500 pounds up to 35,000 pounds and two forge presses that enable it to manufacture an array of parts ranging in weight from less than one pound up to 600 pounds. Its engineering department utilizes 3-D modeling techniques to streamline mechanical processes, minimize material waste and deliver cost-efficient products.
