Houston Food Bank, founded in 1982, is a private, nonprofit organization that provides food donation services for local charitable programs. It is a certified member of America s Second Harvest, which is one of the leading food bank networks in the United States. Houston Food Bank operates nearly 400 hunger relief agencies in more than 15 southeast Texas counties. In addition, the food bank operates various church food pantries, homeless shelters, homes for the battered and abused and nutrition sites for children and the elderly. The food bank also supports and organizes a variety of nutrition education, outreach and job training programs. Houston Food Bank is located in Houston.
