Established in 1959, the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District works to provide emergency fire and safety services and security to residents and businesses. It is comprised of various firefighters, administrative officers and emergency medical technicians. The district maintains a community emergency response team that provides emergency support for major emergencies in the local area. The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District conducts several public education, community outreach, and fire and life safety education programs. The district also operates a fuels management division that implements fuel reduction programs that contribute to the reduction of wildfire risk in improve forest environment. It is works under the government of Incline Village in Nevada.
