DFS started by Donald and Doris Kier as Dons Farm Supply in December of 1970. The company began as Kent Feed in an old block building known as the 7-UP warehouse in Newell, Iowa. DFS is a feed manufacturer that has developed ties with the food industry. It now markets feed to Western Nebraska, Southern South Dakota and Minnesota. A truck fleet of seven semi tractor-trailers, three tandems and one single-axle truck deliver feeder. Since 1998 the company has offered areas corn growers contracts to grow specific varieties of corn for the purpose of minimizing variation with this major ingredient. Pioneer, a DuPont company, was chosen as the seed company of choice to partner with DFS on this project.

We deliver nutrition, value and performance. History of Furst-McNess Company Furst-McNess Company was started in 1908 in Freeport, Illinois. The company served area farmers and small town people with a quality line of livestock remedies and household products. At that time, Frank Furst, a young Freeport lawyer, joined his talents and ambition with those of Frederick McNess, a brilliant pharmacist in this new venture. Horse drawn delivery buggy from early 1900s right from the start, our companys line included effective livestock products such as McNess Saltonic In the late 50s, Furst-McNess answered farmers needs for vitamin/mineral premixes to be used in making livestock rations right on the farm. Midwestern farmers were provided these premixes out of the Freeport, Illinois plant that also now serves as the companys headquarters.
