The Tukwila Fire Department works to preserve lives and property through fire prevention and suppression, rescue and emergency medical services. It is comprised of more than 60 career firefighters and civilian personnel. The department provides medical aid, sprinkler, smoke detector and fire code inspections, fire cause investigation and building plan reviews. The Tukwila Fire Department maintains a fire prevention bureau that conducts arson prosecution and nightlife safety inspections, as well as issues special permits required by the International Fire Code. It operates more than three fire stations that utilize various pumps, engines, Explorer Post vans, and hazardous material response and heavy rescue vehicles. The department supports several educational and public safety programs and offers information regarding emergency preparedness. The Tukwila Fire Department is located in Tukwila, Wash.
