SUNY Oswego, also known as the State University of New York at Oswego, is one of 13 university colleges in the 64-campus State University New York system, and offers more than 100 undergraduate majors, minors, cooperative and graduate programs. The university offers courses in American studies, geochemistry, meteorology and wellness management. Founded in 1861, and located in Oswego, N.Y., it enrolls more than 8,500 students and its campus comprises classrooms, laboratories, residential and athletic facilities. Additionally, the campus also features theaters, galleries, art and music studios, and a library with more than 2.5 million items. The university has several centers and institutes, including Center for Community Journalism, Institute for Professional and Organizational Development and Biochemistry Center. SUNY Oswego provides merit-based scholarships, need-based grants, loans and work-study awards.
