Shakopee Supportive Housing is a home-based social service provider. It provides housing and support to adults with disabilities. Shakopee Supportive Housing receives funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Nu-Star is a Shakopee-based company, established in 1963, originally as a manufacturer and marketer of car wash equipment. The company has since added several other product lines, which include Power Pusher (battery-powered tugs to pull wheeled loads up to 100 tons in weight), Wet Noses Clean Paws (a line of self-serve dog-washes) and Sky Pro (self-cleaning, automated window-washing equipment).
The Society's facility in downtown Shakopee features the Stans History Center. It is named for Maurice H. Stans, a Shakopee native who was a philanthropist, advisor to Presidents Eisenhower and Nixon and an explorer. The museum is filled with artifacts and interactive exhibits that tell the story of the county and its people. The museum, which features the collections of the Scott County Historical Society (founded in 1969), opened in 1996.
