Founded in 1869 in Boston's South End, Children's Hospital Boston is now in the Longwood Medical Area. The hospital currently has 395 beds and is one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States. It also is the pediatric teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Children's Hospital has a number of clinical services, including emergency care, a cancer and blood disease center, a brain center, a transplant center and more. There also is a cafeteria and a gift shop for visitors.
Brigham & Women's Hospital is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Formed in 1980, it has 793 beds and features numerous departments, including emergency medicine, oncology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, pathology and radiology. Brigham & Women's Hospital Physician Group provides comprehensive adult medical care and is located at the hospital in the Longwood Medical Area on Francis Street.
