Holy Trinity Interparochial School, located on First Street, is a Catholic school sponsored by three Roman Catholic parishes, Holy Trinity and St. Helen's in Westfield, and Our Lady of Lourdes in Mountainside.
The Westfield campus houses the 1st—8th grades, with students from two and a half years old to kindergarten attending school on the Mountainside campus. Seventy-five percent of the students are from the parishes in Westfield. According to school data, approximately half of the students are from Westfield, with Scotch Plains being the second largest represented municipality.
Founded in 1916, the school stresses religion as a component in the lives of the students. French and Spanish are taught in the school, along with a technology curriculum. Art, music and physical education are a part of the comprehensive academic curriculum. The school contains a variety of extracurricular activities. Extended day care programs are available for students. Sister Maureen Fichner is the principal.
The oldest Montessori School in New Jersey, the Christopher Academy was founded in 1963. Featuring homelike classrooms and projects designed to each child's learning style, the academy enrolls students in the early childhood grades.
Graduates of the Christopher Academy routinely attend the finest private schools in the area, along with neighborhood public schools in Westfield and surrounding communities. Each lead teacher in the school has a college degree and is Montessori-certified, with many holding advanced degrees. The school sponsors a summer program on the Westfield campus and a summer day camp in Scotch Plains.
One of Westfield's six elementary schools, Jefferson school has been basing its school themes on environmental awareness since 2006. This includes field trips and lesson plans designed to teach the students to appreciate natural resources. The school collects lunches for the Elizabeth Homeless Coalition. The school's active Parent Teacher Organization is recognized with 290 parents being listed on the Parent Honor Roll. The principal of Jefferson Elementary School is Jeanette Munoz.
Redeemer Lutheran School has been educating kindergarteners-through-sixth graders since 1953. Adjoining the church of the same name built in the 1930s, the school also offers before and after school care programs.
The school integrates technology into the curriculum in each classroom and utilizes nearby Clark Memorial Park for their physical education classes. Students receive swimming instruction each year at the Westfield Area YMCA. Class size is capped at 18 students in each class.
Washington School is one of six public elementary schools in Westfield. The school has an active Parent Teacher Organization that works on a variety of programs. These include bringing in authors and writers to work with students, coordinating a program to have student-written plays performed by a youth group, parent volunteers to provide art enrichment, a school store and an after-school chess club. The principal of Washington Elementary School is Andrew Perry.
