Amelia Island Montessori School provides education to children in preschool through upper elementary. Established in 1975, the school offers language, music and arts, physical education, drawing, photography, and yoga. Its musical activities include singing, eurhythmics, playing percussion instruments and learning elementary concepts of musical notation. Additionally, children are trained in pitch, timing, melody and musical awareness. The school s parent-teacher organization meets every month, and a child care facility is provided for these meetings. A range of events are hosted by the school and the PTO, such as Bausch & Lomb tennis, fall family cookout, family campout, book fair, and teacher appreciation day. Amelia Island Montessori School also offers parent appreciation day, jazz performances, critter connection, children s music and art shows, community performances, and toy drives and care packages.
