St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School, a K-8 private school, is a feeder school for the renowned Jesuit High School. Named after a local historian and educator, Florence Markofer Elementary serves close to 700 students enrolled in grades K through 6. It scores relatively high on the state's Academic Performance Index, and has an active group of parent volunteers who recently raised money for the school's librarian to continue working after her position was eliminated due to budget cuts. Over one-third of its students come from families defined by the district as low-income.

The school was named for a member of a local ranching family who taught in Elk Grove schools for much of her life.
