Westport Writers' Workshop helps writers improve their work in a friendly, supportive environment. It is led by a seasoned writer with professional credentials ranging from National Public Radio to Columbia University. Students read their writing to participants and receive extensive feedback and discussion with a focus on craft and skill development. Paid services are also available, including coaching, consultation and copyediting.
Spaghetti Book Club is a literacy program for elementary school children. The program encourages children to read and discuss books and also provides instruction on writing, publishing and illustrating book reviews. The students' reviews and illustrations are then published on the Spaghetti Book Club Web site. The program provides schools and teachers with curriculum, training and web publishing services.
Gene Pino, a professional jazz and classical guitarist who has studied at the Berklee School of Music, has been providing lessons to aspiring guitarists in his home studio since 1992. In addition to jazz and classical guitar, he teaches electric and acoustic guitar, and electric bass. His home studio has a large song library and is equipped with digital recording equipment. Students are taught music notation, technique, chords, picking, scales and music theory and progress at their own pace.
