The Neva King Cooper Educational Center is a special school that offers academic services for people between the ages of 3 and 22 who suffer from mental and physical disabilities. It provides a variety of educational programs and health care services for the students, families and caregivers. The center provides adaptive physical training, inclusion, social work and nursing care services. It offers prevocational and daily living skills development training, as well as physical, occupational, and speech and language therapies. The Neva King Cooper Educational Center provides classes in art, music and augmentative communication through community-based instruction programs. Additionally, it organizes a variety of recreational activities, social events and family celebrations. Located in Homestead, Fla., the Neva King Cooper Educational Center is a part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, which operates several schools.
