Thomas Luzier revolutionized skin care for women when he began developing facial cr mes in the early 1900s. For two decades, the Kansas City, Mo., chemist used his wife s beauty salon clients as willing test models to perfect his formulas. He established his company in 1923 as Luzier Special Formula Laboratories. Luzier Cosmetics has pioneered many products that are standard today, such as offering one of the first liquid mascaras with a self-coating applicator; the Bornacein Masque formula created in 1933 to oxygenate the skin is now considered a new concept; it was one of the first companies to add to its cr mes natural ingredients, such as vitamins A and D, protein, alpha hydroxy and botanicals; and it was one of the first to repackage eye colors and brushes in refillable compacts. Luzier Cosmetics is headquartered in Kansas City, Mo.
