Richard G. Merkler, MD, FAAP, is a general pediatrician who has spent the majority of his career working on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. He values the diversity among his patients, who have come to the city from a wide array of rich backgrounds, experiences, and cultures. While he takes pleasure in caring for children, he specializes in the treatment of children with special needs, including prematurity, cerebral palsy, asthma, ADHD, autism, and rare genetic syndromes. Dr. Merkler earned his medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine, finished his residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, and has been practicing for over 20 years — authoring a medical journal publication during that time. Dr. Merkler is an AAP Fellow and Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. When parents are seeking the right doctor for well-child care or a specialist for complex diagnoses in children, Dr. Merkler is a great fit.
