Established in 1981, the Department of Dermatology promotes the care of patients with common and complicated skin diseases. It administers the Dermatology Residency program, which was created in 1981. The department offers skin cancer treatment and stress management services. It also specializes in laser treatments and aesthetic procedures. The Department of Dermatology participates in clinical trials of various agencies, including the National Jewish Medical and Research Center, National Eczema Association, Genentech, Womens Dermatologic Society, American Chemical Society and Lucid. It is managed by the University of Rochester Medical Center, which is an integrated academic health institution. Founded in 1921, the University of Rochester Medical Center operates the School of Medicine and Dentistry, which employs mire than 1,400 full-time people. It has received the Clinical Translational Science Award from the National Institutes of Health.
