Through the Plowshares program, dedicated and experienced teachers work with young children to help them develop personally and emotionally. Newton Creative Start is the Newton location of Communities United, a non-profit organization that provides full-day and half-day pre-school and childcare programs, including Head Start, in 11 Massachusetts locations.The Newton location has a dedicated staff and offers early childhood programs for toddlers up to kindergarteners. Early Head Start is also offered in the Newton location. State funding is available for families who need tuition-assistance and they also serve Newton families who pay full tuition. The Academy of Physical and Social Development provides programs for parents of children of special needs, specializing in kids with autism and Aspergers syndrome. The program supports the development of self-esteem, confidence and social skills. Children engage in social and physical activities that are designed to help them feel more comfortable with peer interaction and understanding social cues. Kids ages 5 to 16 are eligible and participate according to age groups in sports, games, activities and discussions.
