This child-care facility is located right in the center of Granby. Owner and community member, Doreen Hoddinott, works with a group of friendly caretakers every day to provide a day-care service for children 3 to 12 years old. Small World Learning & Child Care Center offers a pre-school program as well as school-age care. This facility accommodates 32 children and has a large indoor play area as well as an outdoor playground.
In 2003 the Greater Hartford YMCA opened its Farmington Valley branch in Granby. The "Y" as many call it was formerly a private swimming facility. An addition to the building added a gymnasium, weight rooms, a climbing wall, teen center game room, instructional rooms and a day-care center.

Barbara Swanson is the founder and former owner of the preschool and childcare center and she has been with them from the start. Her son, Jeff Swanson is the current owner.

Valley Preschool is on North Granby Road, just north of Granby Center. The school shares a building with the First Congregational Church in Granby and serves children ages 3 and 4.
This martial-arts school teaching karate self-defense, and safety is also used as a day care for children ages four and up. Owners Betsy and Clayton McNally are well-liked in their community and always make sure that the children here feel significant. Their classes focus on learning respect for oneself and others, as children are coached in a supporting and nurturing way. East West Karate also offers an after-school camp as well as a summer camp.
