The Small World Montessori School is located off of Appian Way close to Interstate 80. The school has an infant room with a 1:4 teacher ration for children aged 6 months to 2 and a half years old. The other portion of the school accommodates children between two and four years of age. The school uses the Montessori teaching method, which aims to teach children holistically, incorporating a well-rounded discipline into all aspects of a child's life.
This YMCA branch is operated by the same administration that heads the Hilltop YMCA. This branch runs the Y-Kids program, which supports working parents before and after school. Its caring environment aims to reinforce children's curriculum at Frances L. Ellerhorst Elementary, which shares its campus with this YMCA branch.
Patty's has before- and after-school child care programs. With its building adjacent to Collins Elementary School, it's very convenient for parents. The school has non-profit status and is commited to building community through reinforcing moral, civil, academic and patriotic values in children. Summer programs are fun-filled, with arts and crafts and weekly themed workshops. During the school year, Patty's tutors kids, primarily in math. Grades range from kindergarten to sixth.
La Casita Bilingue Montessori is a bilingual school for kindergarten and pre-school-aged children in the historic downtown area. A colorful mosaic displays the school's name just before you walk into a festive outdoor play area, which has shady areas filled with flowers because part of the playground is built into a small hill. Students are taught in the Montessori style, which incorporates cultural diversity and creativity with basic subjects and follows a number of rules to support the child in a proactive individualized learning environment. The staff comes from all over the world, including Asia, Mexico and South America.
