Building Kidz is a private preschool with a focus on the performing arts. Children — newborns through five-year-olds — receive instruction here, and are encouraged to participate in activities that help build an early foundation in music, theater and dance. Parents can choose to enroll their child either full-time or part-time. Breakfast and lunch, plus an afternoon snack, are included in the tuition cost, which ranges from about $450 to $900 a month. The teachers at Building Kidz are trained to give plenty of individual attention to each child in order to support a child's unique needs and strengths, but children also learn to work and play in groups.
Owner Marion Chaeff owns and operates The Pacific Ballet Academy in Mountain View, which has been in this location since 1994. The Academy boasts three large studios featuring a sprung dance floor in each. Students particpate in a wide variety of dance classes, including character dancing, yoga and pilates to supplement their ballet training.
Students from the Pacific Ballet Academy perform The Nutcracker at The Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts in the fall, and in a Student Showcase in the spring.
Chaeff's training philosphy encompasses the idea that all children interested in dance should have the opportunity to learn. She hopes to pass on "the joy of dance" to all students in her academy, from preschoolers to adults.
