Administrated by Civic Arts Education, a division of Walnut Creek's Arts Recreation & Community Services Department, the Shadelands Arts Center is a community space located on North Wiget Lane. Available for rental, the space features an auditorium and meeting rooms, hosts a fine arts preschool program, regularly scheduled art exhibitions and art classes for students of all ages. This dance studio offers beginner, intermediate and advanced belly dancing classes. Located on Walnut Creek's Boulevard Way, Belly Dance! also sells belly-dancer jewelry, skirts, harem pants, costumes, patterns and finger cymbals. The studio's professional dancers can also be hired for parties, weddings, restaurants and bellygrams.
The Contra Costa Pilates Center was opened in 1999 by instructor Lisa Goldin. It offers private and semi-private pilates instruction, as well as personalized workouts for individuals. Lessons begin at $350 for a 10 class package of private and semi-private lessons to $30 for a single, semi-private lesson.
Ace Dance Academy is for all ages and abilities. The class types range from ballet, jazz and tap to hip hop, liturgical and pilates. Students dance in one of two large mirrored studios. Club 1220 is home to a flourishing and proud LBGT community in Walnut Creek.
