The District Attorney of Waukesha County presides over matters of prosecution in the county and stands as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for Waukesha County. The standing D.A. is Brad Schimel, whose office is further staffed by 15 additional attorneys and more than 25 staff members.
The Waukesha County Courthouse is home to county administrative offices and the court system. The courthouse holds criminal, civil, small claims and family court records. It also has birth and death certificates, marriage licenses and tax payments.
The Departent of Public Works is the Waukesha County department that builds and services the county roads and buildings. For permits on driveways or culverts, residents will need to make a visit to the Public Works department. For more information, be sure to visit the Waukesha County website.
Tom Farley is the Waukesha County corporation counsel, which essentially is the attorney for the county. The office provides child support services, legal direction on county policies, ensures the county is following state statutes and reviews contracts.
Fox River Park, part of the Waukesha County Park System, is located at the intersection of Highways H and I. The park has a 2.25-mile trail for walking, running and rollerblading, as well as 4.3 miles of hiking trails along the Fox River. Other amenities include a nature play area, geocaching, biking, two observation decks, fishing and canoeing.
Parking costs $3 per car during the weekday and $5 per car on weekends and holidays. Annual county park passes are available.
The 25-member board of supervisors meets the fourth Tuesday each month at 7pm. Audio podcasts of the board meetings are streamed on the county's website.
The board's chairman is James Dwyer of Menomonee Falls. Waukesha supervisors include Duane Paulson, Jean Tortomasi, Kathleen Cummings, Steven Wimmer and Walter Kolb.
