T.O. Vinson Health Center offers a wide range of personal health services to patients in Decatur and the surrounding communities. The center's services include pregnancy testing, adult and child immunization, an STD clinic, a travel clinic, breast and cervical cancer screening, pediatric check-ups and more.
Located in the Douglas County Courthouse, the Douglas County Magistrate Court handles small claims under $15,000 as well as garnishment actions. Residents may file a claim in this court without an attorney and a judge holds a hearing to decide each case. Residents may have an attorney represent them at their own expense. A person or a business may be sued here.
This court provides services in the probating of estates, appoints and removes guardians of minors and incapacitated adults, issues marriage licenses, firearm permits, birth and death certificates and handles traffic citations. It is housed within the Barrow County Courthouse.
Located on Stone Mountain Lithonia Road, East Dekalb Health Center is part of the Dekalb County Board of Health. Services provided include: health check, adult and childhood immunization, TB screening, pregnancy testing, preinatal case management, HIV/AIDS counseling and testing, birth control supplies and counseling and more. In addition, the walk-in clinic for STD evaluation and treatment and HIV testing is open Monday through Friday.
The Dunwoody Nature Center, located near Dunwoody Village, is a park set on 35 acres of land that includes an indoor nature center, walking trails, a picnic area, a handicapped accessible treehouse, a playground and Wildcat Creek. Part of the Northeast Health District, the Barrow County Health Department is one of 18 clinics in the 10 counties surrounding the city of Athens. The department offers immunizations, birth control, family planning services, screenings for cardiovascular disease, treatment for high blood pressure and diabetes, testing and treatment for AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases and tuberculosis and community health education.
