Collier County Government s Community Development and Environmental Services Department provides a variety of services. Its functions include building review and permitting, Community Development and Environmental Services operations, code enforcement, comprehensive planning, engineering, environmental services, financial administration and housing, and zoning and land development reviews. It has initiated an infrastructure development program that includes new water and sewage facilities, improving the road grid and developing a transportation grid. Its rural land stewardship plan, developed with the participation of environmentalists, developers and landowners, has preserved more than 100,000 acres of environmentally sensitive land. It has organized several land development workshops to promote discussions regarding architectural and site design standards, early work permits, affordable housing bonus plan and streamlining the process for public potable water sources.
