The Public Works Department is responsible for the planning, construction and maintenance of the infrastructure of unincorporated Manatee County, including its street lights, traffic signs, canals and stormwater inlets. It employs about 280 staff members under the guidance of Director Ron Schulhofer, and its services are divided among engineering, field operations and traffic management.
The department's one-story complex off U.S. 301 includes a maintenance facility for the department's construction vehicles and MCAT buses.
The Port Authority has four stops in Dormont, including two stations, Potomac at Broadway and Potomac Avenues and Dormont Junction, near West Liberty Ave. and McFarland Road. These stations offer bike racks, seating and are ADA accessible. Potomac has 22 park and ride spots, Dormont Junction and has 163, Stevenson along Broadway Ave. between LaSalle Ave., and Edgeville Street and Kelton at Kelton Ave. All are street level stops with street parking. It provides service between downtown Pittsburgh and other South Hills communities.
