Eastside Employment Services offers placement services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Eastside Employment Services has been placing qualified applicants with developmental disabilities into jobs since 1984, when it opened as one of the first agencies of its kind. EES has a dedicated staff who are passionate about the role individuals with developmental disabilities can play in our everyday lives. Enriching the lives of those with disabilities, while bettering the community at large and giving people a better understanding of the developmentally disabled community, are first priority for Eastside Employment Services.
Spiritual Directors International provides a network for spiritual leaders across all denominations, as well as guidance and leadership for individuals who are interested in getting involved. Girl Scouts of Western Washington operates a regional office here for Bellevue and all of East King County. Troop resources including handbooks, program equipment and camping supplies are available for rental. The United Church of God meets Saturday afternoons at the North Bellevue Community Center. A potluck is held after services on the second Saturday of each month.
Sanctuary of Praise offers general worship services on Sundays at 12:15pm, as well as several Spanish services and prayer groups throughout the week. The church also hosts Growing Families International, a parenting class, and supports international missionaries.
This AM radio station recalls the golden age of radio, playing the likes of the Beatles, Glenn Miller, Jimmy Rodgers, Connie Francis, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis and Barbra Streisand. KIXI also plays radio dramas seven nights a week, including classic radio programs with Jack Benny and Orson Welles; new interpretations of the classic 1960s Twilight Zone television scripts; and original radio drama on Jim French's Imagination Theatre. The Bellevue-based station is run by Sandusky Radio of Seattle.
WomanSpirit Center is a gathering place for women to nurture their spirituality and personal growth. The center is an inspirational place to deepen connections to oneself, others and the world. It provides an environment and classes for women to come together for education, skill building, self-expression, and to find personal peace. The center has partnered with the Sophia Way organization and assists with providing shelter and counseling for women in transition.
Unity of Bellevue is a New Thought church that opened in downtown Bellevue around 1960. Today, the church is located in the Crossroads area and offers a variety of services, including Sunday worship at 9am and 11am and a Wednesday night youth program at 6pm for grades six through 12.
Situated at the headwaters of its namesake stream, Lewis Creek Park is a picturesque place where the local community comes for environmental education and recreation. Over 80 percent of the 55-acre park is preserved in its natural condition, making its paths rich with scenery. It also has a visitor's center, play area, basketball court and dual-use soccer and baseball fields. The visitor's center is a 2,500 square-foot, multipurpose interpretive center. There you can check out a pair of binoculars, grab a book from the library and relax in the seating area, or take the ranger tour of the park. Interpretive programs are offered on a wide variety of topics, including birds of prey, local animals, amphibians and native plants.
Calvary Lutheran Church offers worship service at 9:30am on Sundays and 7pm on Mondays, along with an array of other ministries and programs. A preschool and kindergarten is also located on site for children ages 3 to 5. Educational programs include a women's Bible study, adult Bible study and Sunday school.
