The Eagan Community Center offers a large venue with beautiful architecture in a peaceful, relaxed setting. The facility provides the Eagan community with a fitness center, gymnasiums and an indoor track. Additionally, programs are available for seniors, teens and preschoolers. Business and banquet facilities are also available.
This library is adjacent to the Dakota County Western Services Center. A variety of books, audio books, music, DVDs and research materials are available. Galaxie Library offers many services, such as Interlibrary loans, ask-a-librarian, book discussion groups, Internet and computer software access, meeting rooms and test proctoring. Oak Meadows is owned and operated by Family Resources Development, Inc., a nonprofit organization affiliated with the Minnesota Conference of the United Church of Christ. The facility's on-site chaplain offers ecumenical and inter-faith celebrations, devotions and pastoral care. Its professional staff offers activities promoting ongoing social and emotional development, with private bus transportation for scheduled shopping trips and other events. Oak Meadows contracts with Presbyterian Homes & Services doing business as Presbyterian Home Care. Presbyterian Home Care and Oak Meadows' receptionist are on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Living Word was established in 1987 and is a member of the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations. Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce serves the cities of Eagan, Farmington, Lilydale, Mendota Heights, Mendota, Rosemount, Sunfish Lake and West St. Paul. The chamber's mission is to "Shape public policy, provide networking, support educational opportunities and encourage business and community development." The Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce holds many events to bring business owners and the community together.
The Eagan Area Business Council meets monthly to get updates on what's going on with businesses around the area, to get status reports from city staff and to find out how local policies are affecting businesses. Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce also holds a quarterly networking event as well as a Mayor's Breakfast, Holiday Luncheon and the State of the City address.
The R.H. Stafford Branch Library in Woodbury serves about 450,000 visitors each year, with more than 900,000 items checked out annually. There are conference rooms and computer stations available, in addition to books, DVDs and music. Named for the former Washington County Board member, it is part of the complex that also houses the YMCA, Central Park and Early Childhood programs for South Washington County Schools.
Guardian Angels Church seeks to serve its members, the surrounding community and beyond with a variety of groups and programs. The church offers educational programs for people of all ages, from preschool to marriage preparation to Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults classes. Church members also serve the outside community though social justice advocacy and service projects benefiting organizations like the Loaves and Fishes Ministry and the Woodbury Food Shelf.
Having moved from Oakdale somewhat recently, the Washington County Environmental Center allows residents to dispose of hazardous household waste at this facility. Those who wish to drop off items must show identification as the service is only open to county residents. The location also accepts recyclable material and electronics. Note that it's only open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The Catholic Cemeteries manages and oversees Calvary Cemetery, Gethsemane Cemetery, Resurrection Cemetery, St. Anthony's Cemetery and St. Mary's Cemetery. It takes care of all the legal and financial aspects of the cemeteries and well as all the record-keeping duties. The Catholic Cemeteries also provides financial assistance to families experiencing unique burial situations, including those who have lost children prior to birth. It can also assist with genealogy research.
The ECVB is located inside the Eagan Community Center and is a vendor for the city. It is funded by 3 percent of lodging taxes. There are 15 hotels in Eagan. Of the income generated by the lodging taxes, 5 percent goes to the city for administrative fees and Eagan Convention and Visitors Bureau obtains the rest. ECVB is not membership-based.
