Disabled American Veterans Chapter 129, which is located on Dequindre Road, is also known as the Big Red Barn. The chapter is a member of the national Disabled American Veterans Association. The building is often rented out on the weekend for events and used on the weekdays for DAV and VFW meetings. Also, a bi-weekly flea market is held at the hall on Sundays and Tuesdays, from 7am to 3pm.

The Salvation Army collects clothes and other household items at more than 1,400 centers and sells them to fund their Adult Rehabilitation Centers. At their Utica store--the largest Salvation Army in the US--they have a large selection of gently used clothing that is clean and in great shape.

For instance, the men's jeans selection has many Levi's, Lee and other great brand names and has many different sizes. It also has a great selection of used stereos and speakers, just to name one of their many household items. If you have never been to a Salvation Army, you're missing out on great clothes, etc., at garage sale prices. And everything you spend goes toward helping others who are less fortunate.
