Built in 1879, the Pump House at Croydon Park is a historic building in Rockville and the site of the first municipal water supply. Today it is used as a community center building. The grounds are equipped with a basketball court, playground, grill and picnic tables on 1.2 acres.

The Interstate Commission On The Potomac River Basin was established by congress in 1940 with the directive of protecting the water which flows through the Potomac River Basin. Accordingly, it engages the public with information about the importance of preserving our natural resources as well as effective ways to do this. It also releases annual reports on the current state of the basin, and monitors it throughout Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C.
In August 1998, the Platelet Disorder Support Association (PDSA) was founded. It is a non-profit corporation that provides information, support and education to people who have immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and other platelet disorders. Originally, it was simply a Web site for people to share their stories about ITP and offer each other support. Now, it has flourished to over 200 pages of free information, and it encourages research on ITP.
