The Potters Shop is in Gorse Mill Studios on Thrope Street in Needham. It is a bookstore featuring the largest and most comprehensive selection of pottery books and films anywhere. These include out of print, rare and collectible titles. The owners are potters themselves and they also run a potters school at the same location. In addition, they operate a gallery where their work is available for sale. Be sure to check out the schedule of receptions and upcoming events.
Elliot House is part of not-for-profit Riverside Community Care. This clubhouse is a hub for employment, peer support and rehabilitative atmosphere for people with a mental illness history. Clubhouse members and staff members have a hand in all operations, such as business management and food services.
The Commonwealth Learning Center is a non-profit educational organization that provides programs that include private tutoring, evaluations and teacher training courses. The center offers tutoring for all ages, from kindergartners to adults in a variety of areas including writing, reading, test prep, study skills and math. The center's teachers also have experience assisting students with ADHD, dyslexia, high functioning autism, non-verbal learning disabilities and executive functioning difficulties. Additional student services include educational, psychological, speech and language evaluations. Teacher training programs include Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program, reading games, study skills, Nancibell Visualizing and Verbalizing Program for Reading Comprehension, math games and more. The organization operates an additional center in Danvers.
