Based in Santa Rosa, Calif., North Bay Regional Center is a nonprofit organization that is operated by a volunteer board of directors under a contract with the state of California. It serves people with a variety of developmental disabilities, including mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism. The center offers a range of services, such as diagnosis and evaluation, individual program planning, prevention-related services, crisis intervention, family support, advocacy and consultation with other agencies. It also offers program evaluation, community education and resource development and transition planning services. In addition, the center coordinates with several community service providers, such as schools, health and welfare facilities and recreational centers.
