Operational since 1960, Peace Corps is a promoter of peace and friendship around the world. There are over 200,000 Peace Corps volunteers serving in 139 host countries working on issues ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation. Peace Corps caters to various areas, including education, health/HIV/AIDS, business development, environment, agriculture and youth development, to name a few. The volunteers serve various regions, such as Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe/Central Asia, The Caribbean, North Africa and Pacific Islands.
