Calvary Church of God in Christ is a large, friendly church. All people are welcome and allowed to attend services. Many other church leaders assist elder Lucius Jones, and the Church has Sunday school, bands and multiple services. Prayer groups and Bible bands are featured on Tuesday evenings. Friday worship starts at 7:30pm and continues until the service ends. Sunday morning starts with Sunday school and morning worship with continuing services into the evening. A new building is almost completed, adding more worship space. The church is located close to downtown Banning and has convenient parking.

Named for a Mohawk indian woman in 1656 who was patroness of ecology and the environment to the Roman Catholic Church, this church conducts daily mass mornings and evenings.  The pastor of the church is Rev. Joseph Trong Nguyen. The church provides a monthly online newsletter in both Spanish and English.

Banning United Methodist is one of the larger churches in town. It supports a number of international and local charities, including the Conference and World Service mission programs, as well as Carol's Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, San Gorgonio Pass Area,  House of Hope, Kairos Outside Prison Ministry, Ronald McDonald House and Guide Dogs of the Desert.

This congregation was organized in 1920 and has been at this location since 1962. Grace Lutheran practices baptism, the teaching of the Word of God from the Bible, sharing of Holy Communion and the religious instruction of children, youth and adults to the standards of the historic Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Grace Luthernnot only serves Banning, but Beaumont, Cabazon, Cherry Valley, Oak Valley, and the greater San Gorgonio Pass area too. The Rev. Jason Hong was installed as pastor in the summer of 2005.

The Church of the Nazarene's mission for adults is to prepare, challenge and inspire men and women to a life of Christian discipleship. It has similar missions for young adults. Missions for kids are divided into age 12 and under or older. The church has about two or three group events each month.

The Alliance has renovated the century-old Banning Woman's Club building into its headquarters, adding a sculpture garden with a new Veterans Memorial Wall. It sponsors and organizes festivals that include the pre-holiday Phineas Festival and an Easter-season Art Hop. Led by Executive Director Carol Newkirk, the Alliance is a spearhead organization in the drive to rehabilitate Banning's downtown retail district. The Alliance also operates the Banning Center for the Arts gallery and PAPA theater group.

A community weekly that's part of the six-newspaper Century Group, the Record Gazette covers Banning, Beaumont and surrounding areas, including the Morongo Reservation, Cherry Valley and Cabazon (the only town in Riverside County ever to unincorporate). The paper has been a frequent media sponsor of local events, including Banning Stagecoach Days and Beaumont's Cherry Festival. Under former co-publisher and editor Charles Ferrell, the paper won a national American Legion award for its coverage of veterans affairs.

Banning's most elaborate park contains a new skate park and swimming pool, playground, softball diamonds, tennis courts and the Playhouse Bowl concert venue, which offers free concerts on August Thursday evenings.   The senior center and community center also are on park grounds.

Calvary Christian School is a ministry of Mountain Avenue Baptist Church, started in 1980.  CCS has a K-4 through 12th grade. It has low student to teacher ratios.  It gives annual, standardized testing and offers before and after school care. It has reasonable tuition, which you can pay online.

Banning Public Library district already goes as far east as Cabazon, where there is a branch. The main library is across San Gorgonio Avenue street from Nicolet Middle School. New Library Director Nancy Kerr has instituted innovative programs, and the Friends of the Banning Library supply volunteers and fundraising support.
