Family & Childrens Center is a regional, private, nonprofit agency that helps children and adults overcome social, emotional and mental challenges. It offers a continuum of services, including individual and group counseling, in-home guidance, residential care center, youth homes, senior housing and alternative education programs for youth with behavioral problems. It also provides treatment foster care, day treatment, and domestic and child abuse prevention programs. The agency s services are funded by a combination of grants and gifts and are accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services. It employs more than 200 people that include registered nurses, therapists, child psychiatrists and psychologists. Established in 1881 and located in La Crosse, Wis., Family & Childrens Center also has facilities in surrounding counties.

Western Technical College is one of more than 15 of Wisconsin s technical colleges that make up the Wisconsin Technical College System, and is located in La Crosse, Wis. The college offers more than 35 programs that lead to an associate in applied science degree. The programs are offered in four divisions that include business, family and consumer sciences, human services and industrial technologies. Additionally, the college also offers technical diplomas, and service learning and certificate programs in a wide range of disciplines, including tooling technology, practical nursing, electronic servicing technology, computerized accounting, graphic designing and interior decoration. The college offers students financial aid in the form of federal grants, loans and work-study awards. The college also has transfer agreements with several four-year colleges and universities that allow Western Technical College graduates with associate degrees to enter bachelor of science degree program with junior standing. Established in 1987, Chileda Foundation is an independent board that consists of financial experts, health care providers, social service professionals and educators. It is part of Chileda, a care center for children and young adults with developmental disabilities due to closed head injuries, seizures, behavioral and genetic liabilities, cerebral palsy, autism and physical handicaps. It collects money through private individuals, corporate entities and various organized fundraisers, such as the La Crosse Chileda Classic, Chileda Womens Board Wine Tasting and Silent Auction. Chileda Foundation uses the contributed money to support the costs associated with care, education and treatment programs, including transportation vans, exercise equipment and computers.
