Located in Middlefield, Conn., The Independent Day School is a co-educational non-sectarian day school for three-year-old Beginners through Grade Eight children. Founded in 1961, the school offers academic programs and extra-curricular activities to a diverse student population from over 30 local communities. The school building includes a performing arts center, two science labs, a library, an art studio, and a gymnasium. Its other facilities include approximately 33 acres of woodlands, wetlands, fields, and gardens including a pond, Nature Trail, two playgrounds, and fields for team sports. The Independent Day is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools.
