Absolute Care was founded in 1999 by our current owner and CEO, Mark King. Mark received his undergraduate degree in psychology from The Ohio State University and began working with individuals with disabilities through a large supported living agency in Franklin County. This opportunity provided him with many diverse experiences and an understanding of the career path he wanted to pursue. In June 1997 Mark was approved for Independent Providership and in September 1999 Absolute Care was officially registered to provide home and community based Waiver Services. Absolute Care is committed to providing quality care to each and every one of our fantastic consumers. Absolute Care works in partnership with each individuals network of support including family, friends, advocates, case managers, employers and peers. Ability Center of Greater Toledo is a nonprofit independent living center in Northwest Ohio, serving seven Ohio counties, including Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Williams and Wood. The center assists people with disabilities and provides several core services, including advocacy, community living and information, recreation inclusion and youth and independent living skills. The center also provides adaptive cooking classes, basic budgeting classes, instruction on navigating local public transportation, minor disability-related bathroom modifications, and constructs access ramps for homes. It offers information and referral to local, state and national disability and independent living resources. The center assists in the individualized education plan process for children with disabilities in local schools, and provides leadership training and opportunities to adolescents with disabilities. Ability Center of Greater Toledo is located in Sylvania, with satellite offices in Defiance and Ottawa counties in Ohio.
