The Knights of Columbus Council #5998 has members who are dedicated to serving the Mt. Vernon community through activities such as blood drives and fundraisers. The organization is the nation's oldest Catholic fraternal groups, and Council #5998 has a partnership with Good Shepherd Catholic Church and St. Louis Catholic Church. The Council holds weekly Bingo nights on Wednesday and Friday nights.
McLean Post 270 was established in 1946 after a group WWII veterans return home from the war in the Europe and in the Pacific.
The Post was granted its charter as a duly recognized American Legion Post in December 1949.
Members now include veterans from World War II to the war in Afghanistan.
Purpose of the American Legion: support veterans of all wars, the community and youth.
