A Lakewood landmark since 1916, the Lakewood Masonic Temple is home to eight Masonic organizations along with various community groups and activities. The Temple has welcomed Lakewood New Life Church, monthly Get Hep Swing dances and Mud-in-Yer-Eye contra dances, the Kiwanis Club of Lakewood, the Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corporation’s Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives and Spring Cleaning drive. The Ballroom and Banquet Room can hold up to 450 people and are available for meetings, banquets, receptions, weddings, parties, dances, performances and fund raisers. The Lakewood Masonic Temple is an alcohol-free facility.
For six years, Mars Bar, located right on the corner of Madison and Mars in Lakewood, has specialized in an enormous selection of craft brews and imports. The interior is quite pleasant and colorful. It's the kind of place that attracts both young and mature beer enthusiasts. There is a fooseball table ready for action. The outdoor seating is a convenient alternative to most of Lakewood's corner pubs that do not offer alfresco drinking. Mars also has party nights, with DJs and daily specials on food, including the signature gyros.
