Manatee River Garden Club is a local organization that promotes gardening and nature via summer events and workshops, community outreach programs and a scenic facility that can be rented for weddings, parties, seminars, family reunions and company events.
Founded in 1920, the DAV is committed to one mission: enhancing the lives of disabled veterans and their families. DAV receives no federal funding, relying instead on dues and donations. DAV performs advocacy functions on Capitol Hill, provides a nationwide service program, a transportation network, and offers unique rehabilitation opportunities for disabled American veterans.
This private golf club and gated community in eastern Manatee County features an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin. Club members enjoy casual and formal dining, a golf shop and well-equipped men's and women's locker rooms. The Concession offers six membership categories, from full memberships (reserved for those who live in the gated community) to corporate memberships.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international, nonprofit charitable organization whose members are dedicated to local community service.
Throughout the country and abroad, FOE members can find chapters and meeting places, called Aeries, for fellowship with local members. This location, FOE #3171, is home to a restaurant and bar and a variety of social activities.
FOE Meetings are from 2pm to 4pm each Wednesday, and there is a ladies' auxiliary associated with this FOE as well. Call for specific event information.
River Strand Golf and Country Club is both a luxury residential community and a center for those to relax with a round of golf or brisk game of tennis. The country club is also available for group gatherings whether it's a business outing, weddings or other special occasions. Lunch and dinner is served at the country club restaurant and a tennis and golf pro shop are located on premises. A round of golf starts at $49 with tee times beginning at 7am. Weekly golf clinics are held on Saturdays, with adult courses at 10am for $15 each session and juniors at 11am for $10 per session.
