The Scott Township Police Department provides 24-hour protection to its residents. There are 20 full-time officers who are supervised by Chief James Secreet. The township police department is located on the ground floor in the back of the municipal building.

Station 170 is a volunteer fire department located on First Street in Heidelberg. The department has two engine trucks, one sqaud vehicle and one ambulance. There are 45 members and Joseph Wissel Jr. serves as the department's fire chief.
The borough's tax rate is 8.5 million and collected by Ted Gazda. Earned income taxes are collected by Berkheimer tax collection services.
