Founded in 1988, the Dispute Resolution Center is operated by the city of Beaverton, Ore. The center provides conflict resolution education and related services through various volunteer-based programs. It offers interpreters for phone and in-person conversations for whom English is a second language. The Dispute Resolution Center provides lectures, demonstrations and interactive role plays. Its 44-hour basic mediation training focuses on conflict resolution skills, including conciliation, negotiation and mediation. The center provides presentations for homeowners associations, clubs, manufactured dwelling parks, business groups and schools. Its neighborhood mediation program encourages and assists citizens to voluntarily resolve disputes at the community level. The Dispute Resolution Center provides mediation programs for repairs, refunds, warranty issues, replacements, salesperson complaints and withheld payments.
