Fairlawn's fire and emergency medical service was established in 1981. Chief Glenn Goodrich supervises a force of 15 full-time and 34 part-time employees. All full-time employees are state certified firefigher paramedics.
The Fairlawn Police Department consists of a DARE unit, dispatch and communications, the detective, and patrol bureaus. The police force moved into a new building in the Fairlawn Municipal Complex in 1999. The department is staffed by 7 part-time officers, 23 full-time officers and 10 communications and administrative employees.
The Bath Township building houses the township's government offices. It is the center location for the police, fire and service departments, as well as a repository for zoning laws.
