The Jersey City Housing Authority provides lower income families and senior citizens with opportunities to gain affordable housing in safe and working neighborhoods. The housing authority promotes economic self-sufficiency for families, continued independent living for senior citizens and maximum accommodation for persons with disabilities. The Jersey City Housing Authority works in partnership with site residents, neighborhood organizations, local and state governments, private sector developers and supportive service providers. The Jersey City Housing Authority has 12 public housing developments and two affordable housing developments in Jersey City, N.J. Of the public housing developments, two are designated as elderly/disabled developments, and 10 are designated as family developments. The Jersey City Housing Authority works under the authority of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
