The Toco Hill-Avis G. Williams Library opened in its new building in June 2009. The library has books and several collections, including audio books, newspapers and magazines, large print books and adult learning materials. It also has free computer access. Facilities include a conference room, meeting room and teen area.
The 12.33-acre Brownwood Park is comprised of two long parcels of green space. It is bordered on the north by Portland Avenue, Ormewood Avenue to the south and Brownwood and Gresham avenues to the west and east, respectively.
The park is bisected by Pendleton Street.
The northern parcel boasts tennis and volleyball courts and a basketball court. It also has a covered picnic pavilion and grill and children's jungle gym.
The park also is home to the Brownwood Park Community Garden, which is located near the tennis courts.
The park's southern parcel is a nice, wooded trail, used by joggers, walkers and dog owners.
Not only does Probate Court Judge Keith Wood issue marriage and firearms licenses, he presides over matters such as wills, estates and temporary guardianships of minors and incapacitated adults. John D. Cline is the court's associate judge.
The Georgia Suprior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority's primary duty is to manage a statewide index of uniform commercial code filings. The authority also takes on additional duties from various state agencies and the General Assembly, including the management of a statewide index of real estate and personal property records. It also oversees a database of notaries public and civil case filings. The authority is in Suite 100 inside the office building, which is one of many within the massive Century Center complex off Clairmont Road. Many other state and federal offices are within walking distance.
The office offers passport and visa services, and provides tourist and travel information on Nigeria.
The Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities South Training Center provides behavioral health services for adults living with developmental disabilities. Clients receive help with daily living skills, computer skills, socialization skills, grooming skills, community integration skills and more.
Clarke County has three Superior Court judges. The chief judge is Lawton Stephens. David Sweat is also a judge. Judge Steve Jones was recently appointed to the U.S. District Court, so another judge will be taking his place. The judges hear both civil and criminal cases.
Served by a staff of more than two dozen, the Dallas Police works to safeguard the city's residents, businesses and visitors. The department enforces city codes and ordinances as well as state and federal laws.
Located on the edge of "The Historic Collier," one of the first communities planned and developed by and for affluent African-Americans, the Adamsville-Collier Heights library is one of 34 branches in the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System. The 10000-square-foot library, which is easy to reach by MARTA, has a 50-seat room available for meetings.
The library is one of 25 branches in the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System slated for renovation or expansion in 2012 and 2013. In addition to the renovations, the system plans to build a new $85 million central library and eight new branch libraries.
Cherokee County residents can take road tests and obtain, replace or renew Georgia licenses, permits or identification cards at the Canton Customer Service Center.
The Animal Control Department enforces, investigates and prosecutes violations to the county's animal control ordinances. The department also maintains a humane shelter for lost and unwanted animals that can be reclaimed by their owner, adopted or rescued. Unclaimed animals are humanely euthanized.
The Grayson Library is part of the Gwinnett County Library System that is operated out of the Library Administrative Office in Lawrenceville. Free wireless internet access is available from 8am to 8pm, and there are public computer stations which can be used to access the internet, library catalog, information databases and the Microsoft Office suite of programs. Patrons can also utilize the Library Elf service to receive email alerts for over due items and items whose due dates are coming up.
Located within Arbor Place Mall, the US Marine Corps Recruiting Office can be found in a space next to the Air Force, Army and Navy Recruiting offices. Enlistment incentives for qualified students include full-tuition, scholarships, allowances for books and fees, as well as an annual stipend for living expenses. A wide variety of Marine career opportunities exist with career training; retirement, health care and child care benefits.
The Holly Springs Fire Department is housed in Station 8. This station serves the entire city, but can be assisted by county units if needed. There are more than 30 volunteer firefighters who can assist the Holly Springs Fire Department if they are needed.
