The Beach Safety Division, a part of the city of Hollywood in Florida, provides safe environment for the public who visit the Hollywood Beach. The division serves as a public safety function for the citys municipal beach. Its staff of professional lifeguards is skilled in medical lifesaving techniques. The Beach Safety Division also teaches the public about the ocean environment through public education and lifesaving seminars. The division hosts and participates in various special events and lifesaving competitions. It responds to beach and water emergencies, as well as enforces city codes and ordinances related to the beach. The Beach Safety Division maintains several first-aid stations and lifeguard towers. The division offers a lifeguard program for children between the ages of 8 and 14.
