Appointed by the city council, the city clerk is responsible for administering the city's legislative affairs and serves the mayor, city council, city manager and administrative departments. The city clerk also acts as historian for the community. The city clerk is Melissa (Lisa) E. Small.
The City Council holds its meetings at City Hall. The historic downtown building is also the office for the eight councilors and the mayor. The Council's regular meetings are held in the Council Chambers at the following times: first Thursday, 8:30am; 2nd Thursday, 3pm; 3rd Thursday, 3pm. The meetings are open to the public. Recordings of Council meetings can be found on the city government website. WSPF-TV, the local cable access station, also airs the meetings on channels 15, 35 (broadcast) or 615. The meetings are also streamed on the city's website.
