The Plymouth Township Municipal Building is the primary government office for Plymouth. The building houses the township's administration, finance, zoning, planning, public works and parks departments, as well as the office of the fire marshall and the police department.
The township code and zoning officer is Robert Caun, who conducts site inspections and reviews to ensure compliance with all township ordinances including the zoning ordinance, building codes and property maintenance code.
The office approves permits for buildings, signs, zoning, subdivisions and development. The office is located in Suite 100 of the municipal building.
The Community Development Department relies on the help of the Planning Commission, the City Council and the Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) to regulate housing, commercial redevelopment and land use in Richfield. In the first decade of the 2000s, the Department worked on the development of Cedar Point Commons near highway 77, City Bella on 66th Street and Lyndale Avenue and Kensington Park on 76th Street and Lyndale Ave. The Department is located at City Hall.
